Abstract

Erysipelas under scar has been rarely reported, except for a few cases of cellulites following saphenous venectomy for coronary by-pass surgery. We report a retrospective study about 25 patients (19 men and 6 women) admitted to hospital for erysipelas under scar uot of a series of 280 patients admitted for erysipelas over 10 years (January 1998 to December 2007). Time to onest of erysipelas with respect to date of scar ranged from 8 months to 26 years. All patients had at least one risk factor for erysipelas. Two cases of abscess were seen. In the other cases, out come was favorable after antibiotic therapy and topical care. Antibiotic prophylaxis was recommended for nine patients. Four patients relapse.
